60th BTBA National Championships 2022

The British Tenpin National Championships started in 1962 at Stamford Hill and ran every year until 2019 when the pandemic hit.

Over the years it became a badge of honour to win the event and still has the biggest participation of any UK bowling tournament. The 60th edition is being held over three weekends in March.

Final Weekend (3) – Champions found for 2022

No less than three perfect games rolled on the final weekend saw a few fireworks and changes to the final standings in Stroud. Senior Steve Bose rolling the first 300, then Gavin Greaves flying the adult flag and finally Jon Frear-Binns flying the youth flag.

Ryan Lakey with 800 in the singles, could not be bettered as Dave Grieg claimed Division B with 675 and Paul Ruddick taking Division C with 614. For the ladies, it was Angie Brown samshing in with 690 to claim the win and Nikki Truslove holding Division B with 652.

Doubles winners included Tom Walster-Prince and Gavin Greaves in Division A, Paul Crippin and Selwyn Morgan in DIvision B and Louie Woodyatt and Paul Riddick in Division C.

The coverted Team events were won by, Two Thumbs 4 Hands (Pete Stevenson, Ben Robinson, Dan Harding, Ray Teece) with 2676 in Division A, The Real EYC Team took Division B with 2574 and Terror Pins took Division C with 2022. Gaye McCully and Kimberley Oakley claimed the Women’s Division A title and Sian Craven and Chelsea Dolan took Division B.

Sassy Racoons held the lead to win with 2430 in the Women’s Division A and England’s Silly Wings claimed the Division B title with 2225

The all important All events winners were Ben Robinson and Hayley Russell in DIvision A, Jack Kerr and Terri-Ann Kay in Division B and Paul Riddick in Division C.

Weekend 2 – All change at the top of the Division A Mens singles as Steve Thornton fired 791 but Lee Cocker went two better with 793. Ryan Lakey rolled in and shot 800 on the nose to lead.

Doubles saw Jack Saunders and Steve Thortnton leading with 1453 and Team event being lead now by Powerplay Poole with 2638

Charlotte Rathbone is the new leader of the womens leaderboard with a fine 668. Hannah Ailes and Vicki Harman lead the doubles with 1264

Sassy Raccoons (Nicky Donowski, Stacey Gould, Maria Gilderoy, Gemmas Tsappis) still lead the team event with 2430.

Elsewhere Dave Grieg leads Division B singles with 675 and Dave Connor holding Division C with 583. For the Women in Division B, Nikkita Truslove continues to lead the field with 652.

Weekend 1 –  Early leaders in the mens A division included Aaron Mitchell with 733 including a 290 game. Doubles being lead by Callum Simons (785) and Garry Sykes (617) with 1402. Too Soft (Callum Simons, Garry Sykes, Jason Agate, Matt Chamberlain) lead the team event with 2596.

Leading the women in the A division Singles was Stacey Gould with 635 and joined by Maria Gilderoy to lead the doubles also with 1044. Sassy Raccoons (Nicky Donowski, Stacey Gould, Maria Gilderoy, Gemmas Tsappis) lead the team event with 2430.

Elsewhere in Division B, Lee Ferraro leads the singles with 643 and in Division C, Dave Conner leads with 583. For the Women in Division B, Nikkita Truslove tos the field with 652.
