Week 3
Well done to the observant ones who noticed that what we played on last night wasn’t the usual pattern. I allowed the bowl to test out a heavier volume pattern and I will report back on how that affected the machinery in terms of dropped pins and re-racks. It certainly seemed very slick with the exception of board 5 to the gutter which was arid ! – they need to blend that step up to the oil. In my opinion – which is worth nothing.
Championship
Spencer Edwards could be the first player to be re-rated mid season ! Spenny won the high series pot with an 804. But there were also nice sets from Angela Li 772, Laura Forceps 771 and Jo Green 770. The high game was won by someone who also rolled their personal best ! and that person was Laura Force-it. Laura rolled a 236 game ! Well done to Laura.
Overall
The league beginning to take shape. The Very Super-duper Senior Gerry Wrathall is top, followed by the youthful Senior Anna Yang in 2nd and the young whipper snapper Angela Li in 3rd.
Premiership
Well there were good sets rolled by Kyle McLaughlin 897, Martin Sickpoole 899, Double H Hayden Hewitt with a 907 – but winning the pot with a 928 was Matt Trotter. High game with a 279 was double H – Hayden ! – he will have a 300 one day !
Overall
No Surprise to see Alan Keddie at the top despite having a ropey week 3. But then we see Hayden in 2nd and Jamie Hayes in 3rd… the YO YO bowlers. Perhaps they might hang around the prem for more then 1 season.
Right 27th October the BTBA Championship Tour rolls into Dunstable – This event will have a £400 first prize and is a handicap singles. You lot have GOT to bowl in it…. Enter via this link. https://events.btba.org.uk/tournament-details?recordId=recB9Kdk66IBVJJiM

Week 2 of the drop in singles. No new bowlers, but a good number of regulars and irregulars.
Championship
Controversially Ricky Cheong finds himself in the championship… and a 238 2nd game perhaps showed why he should be in the premiership… but he’s not ! – so just deal with it people. Ricky won the high game pot… but NOT the high series pot. That went to Gary Waghorn who’s back after a summer sitting in a hut scoring cricket matches… he only goes for the cucumber and tuna sandwiches at lunch. He actually hates cricket ! Garry shot a 791 series. But it was one of them nights were the highest point scorer with a whacking 53pts didn’t win a single pot… but well done to Gerry Wrathall a great week. Especially considering he’s nearly 150 years old.
Premiership
None of the big guns (Trotter & Keddie) won a pot ! or were in the top 3 ! WHAT !!! – Wayne Willacy shot a 884. But sweeping the pots was the Stevenage Stud Steve Allardyce ! 265 in game 2 for the high game and a great set of 959. Shout out to Jamie Hayes who shot a 848 series.
So here we are again. Week 1 of another new season. This is season 18 ! – we welcomed back luisa Chang. Globe trotting as usual Luisa joined us via her mobile home… having just come back from spain… her next stop ? wherever her wheels will take her !
Championship
Richard parker laying down a big marker in week 1 with a 852 series. Awesome block… considering even most of the prem bowlers were struggling. Because in the championship you can’t win both high series and high game, it meant the high game then went to Anna Yang with a 201 ! 2nd pot in a row for Anna.
Premiership
Only two bowlers breaking 800+ – Matt Nash with a 812 series and of course Alan Keddie with a 886, a big chunk of that came from a 268 in game 2 which saw him win both pots.
So a good start for Keddie notching up 53points ! t
Clip of the week ! – featuring slo mo !

Jamie Hayes was involved in a fender bender on the way to the bowl last night… luckily for him most of the impact was taken by the 43 bowling balls he had in his boot. He’s all ready thinking about what balls he can buy with the money he will get when his claim for personal injury comes through.
Also Laura Fawcett made her way to the bowl in her new “striking” banana car .. with wind down windows, cassette deck with graphic equaliser – which she pumps out all the latest drum n bass junglist tunes on.
Championship
A good block of 4 games from Kyle Mclaughlin gave him an 840 series and that took the high series pot. But the high game went Anna Yang who bounced back from a torrid time up at Shipley in the resdev to win the high game pot with a 235. Worthy mention to Laura Fawcett who shot a good 795 series – it must be her lucky banana mobile.
Overall
Jamie Hayes wins the Championship title and gets promoted. Richard Parker secures 2nd just 2 points ahead of Anna Yang in 3rd.
A host of promotions – Jamie Hayes, Hayden Hewitt – go back into the premiership. And will also be joined by Andy Parish, Kyle McLaughlin, Keith Hou.
Premiership
Alfie Humphrey having his first bowl since being promoted to the premiership opened up with a 268 and that was enough to win the high game pot ! a pot on his first week. High series was Alan Keddie with an 895, beating slow mo’s Mark Richardson’s 892. Alfie shooting an 873 – with a 160 last game.
Overall
Alan Keddie wraps up the title with his main challenger Lee Miller being a no show. Miller finished in 2nd with Big Mac taking 3rd
Season Stats – we had 67 different bowlers drop in ! which is a great number. But the number of bowlers who completing the 6 weeks required was significantly reduced. But that’s ok it just means more prize money for those that did complete the 6.

Next week we go straight into the new season – season 18. Lineage will go up by 10p a game ! – but there will be no increase to the price of the weekly bowling for you the bowlers. It just means the prize fund contribution will decrease slightly.
Week 9 – New bowler Kyle McLaughlin, who had a night off work so came and had a bowl. It was nice – the black and white flooring weren’t sticky, the approaches felt nice. Lanes 1-8 had new pins ! (the rest doing are getting done today). It was the first time bowling on the lanes after being dressed by the new machine. I certainly noticed that they seemed juicy, but the old dunny bounce off the gutters was back. Which I’m particularly glad about !
Championship
The bowling the championship was off the scale. And the high series and high game scores would have won the premiership pots
High game went to Jamie Hayes with a 268. But worthy mentions go to Harrison Krople-thingy who had a 243 and Keith Hou with 231. In fact Keith had a great night having all 4 games over 800 and shooting a 883
Overall
With 1 week to go, Jamie has it wrapped up, and will be promoted to the Premiership next season. In 2nd is Richard Parker and in third having a decent season is Angela Li. Harrison can break into the top 3 with a good last week, as he has only bowled 5 weeks so far – he’s also right on the cusp of getting promoted to the prem with a 184.9 average.
Premiership
Joint high game pot winners – Big Mac and Matt Trotter with a 257 ! – Basher missing out with a beautifully crafted 254. High series pot Darren Fox with a 881 was just pipped by his very close “friend” Matt Trotter who had a 882.
Overall
I’m calling it done ! Alan Keddie is top and will be champion, with Lee Miller 2nd. Matt Trotter is currently 3rd but has only bowled 5 weeks and apparently won’t be there next week – so having not got the 6 weeks in it means Big Mac will take 3rd.
So next week is the last week of season 17 – then we’re straight into season 18 !

Week 8 – it was a very strange evening ! Firstly, I walked into the bowl to the tune of Happy Birthday and was presented with a buffet spread and a poo balloon !
Then we get going – we had two new starters. Jamie Williams and Wayne Jenkins – welcome brothers, salām, Shalom, bonjour.
We had loads of people turn up and bowl….. I just assumed it was for the cake ! and some practice before the weekend’s county round as we happened to be bowling on a similar pattern to the tournament.
Then we had issues ! – approaches were bad. The Tech wanted to clean them before we started. This meant we started late.
Then we get going –and it was clear the approaches were not better – speaking to the tech afterwards, he’s really keen on getting to the bottom of why the approaches are so bad lately. We spoke about the “black and white” flooring and perhaps whatever they’re using to clean that is being transferred to the approaches. Because that flooring is cleaned every morning, but it’s still really sticky.
Anyway because of the approaches we had 3 bowlers who pulled out – which was a shame. But obviously sliding is an integral part to most bowlers game… there are some bowlers it won’t affect as they plant their foot at the line. But when you’re committing to a shot you got to trust the slide – its needs to be consistent.
Then a night of drama, continued with a PA system announcing we had to all stop bowling – I was like for Flip sakes what now. But it was all good – Sexy Jackie wanted to present me with presents and a card ! – Fantastic I love presents.
So thank you to everyone who contributed and signed the card – I feel very lucky and humbled.
Into the actual bowling
Championship
High game pot – Keith Hou had a 222 and 237, but also opened up with a 115 ! – no doubt the approaches played a part in the poor first game. But the pot went to Angela Li who shot a rip roaring 239 ! High series pot went to Jamie Hayes with an 803. Honourable mention to Richard Parker who shot the next best set with a 767. Big shout to Rob Durrant shot 218 and 664 – which I think are his league PB’s
Overall
Jamie Hayes is way way way out in front 29pts ahead of Richard Parker in 2nd with Rob Yandell in 3rd.
Premiership
The Stevenage Stud Steve Allardyce shot a 258 game, The Ferret Lee Miller shot a 257 – but the high game pot went to Alan Keddie with a 269. High series. There were only 3 bowlers who broke 800. Ankledyce with a 819, lee Miller with a 899 and cleaning up the pots was Alan Keddie with a 933
Overall
Keddie is top of the league on 311 with a low dropper of 48. Lee Miller is 2nd with 295 and low dropper of 38… but Matt Trotter is out of contention now needing more points than he can possibly score to win the league. Well, that’s lie actually – he needs 117 points to catch Keddie and there are 120 points left to claim.
Week 7 – And now it starts hotting up as bowlers catch up on their weeks to make it to 6 and others start dropping their low ones.
New faces – Always welcome… The bouffant Baker ! the fastest scissors in all of Oxfordshire Gary Baker dropped in for a bowl, and we welcomed Liam Clark
Championship
Some good performances in the Champ this week. Jo Green bowled decent with a 764 series. Harrison Krople-thingy had a good 800, but winning the high series pot was Hayden Hewitt with an 813 series. High game, Harrison was unlucky to miss out again after rolling some decent 2-teen games, with the POT going to Keith Hou with a 223.
Overall
Jamie Hayes returns to the top, with Richard Parker in 2nd – but Jamie has a massive 29pts lead over Richard in 2nd. In 3rd at the moment is Rob Yandell
Premiership
Big Mac opened with a 266, and Alan Keddie shot a 266 in game 2 and they share the high game pot, with a worthy mention to Alan Chan who finished his set off with a 262. High Series was wrapped up by Alan who shot a 900 set.
Overall
Alan Keddie now leads the league on 304pts and has a really high dropper – 48pts. Lee Miller in 2nd with Big Mac 3rd… But Trotter is lurking having only bowled 4 weeks. He’s averaging 48pts a week so just two “average” weeks will put him right up there with Keddie.
Funky Pattern Week next week ! – and I’ll tell you now its going to be a slightly modified version of TITANIUM – as that’s the pattern that most of you will be bowling on at the weekend for the BTBA County Qualifiers !!
Week 6. We Welcomed back Martin Stickpole who had a bowl after returning from injury. A wrist injury.. injured through repetitive stress and over use.
Championship
The Power Parker – Richard Parker had a good night on the lanes. Scoring 49pts and picking up the high game pot. Richard had a 793 series, but the high series pot went to Andy Parish with an 805 series.
Overall
Richard is now top, with Jamie Hayes in 2nd having played a week less. In third is 1 time tenpin tour winner Rob Yandell.
Premiership
Wow what a night for Matt Nash – a yo yo bowler between the prem and championship. But perhaps he can extend his stay in the prem for more then one season this time round. Matt opened up with a 276, then followed it up with a 252 and rounded it off with games of 211 and 212 for a 952 set and took a clean sweep of the pots. A bearded bowler on our lane summed it up when he said Matt could have had an epileptic fit, tripped over his own feet spun 360 and still got a strike.
Overall
3 clear leaders in this league – normally there’s a 4th trying get into the group. But not this year. Top is Lee Miller, with Alan Keddie 2nd and in 3rd having only played 4 weeks of the 6 is Matt Trotter.
Next week is a bank holiday – BUT LET ME TELL YOU ALL… THERE IS BOWLING ! WE ARE BOWLING… YES BOWLING IS ON !
Clip of the week…

A scorcher of an evening – the UK was sweltering. For once it was actually cooler in the bowl then it was outside. 3 newbies this week – the Family Parish ! Andy, Wife Lisa and son Sam came along a had a little bowl.
There were some smelly bottom odours around the lane 5 through to lane 8 area. Now I will hold me hand up to one of them… I did let one slide. But the 2nd one… NO THAT WAS NOT ME ! – hand on my fart, sorry I mean heart. Now there was only person not complaining… and that was Richard Parker… I don’t want to accuse anyone… But I think it was him !
Championship
There were a few contenders for the high game pot. Andy Parish himself shot a 214 and Anna Yang also rolled 214 – but pipping them by a skittle with a 215 was Ray Lay. High series pot. Hayden Hewitt making his first appearance of the year since his relegation went and rolled an 873 series – that’s the sort of form he should be showing in the premiership. I don’t know why these Yo yo bowlers can’t hit them sort of scores when they get themselves promoted.
Overall
Half way point in the season. The league still being led by Jamie Hayes who had a week off. In 2nd is Rob Yandell and 3rd is Richard Parker.
Premiership
There was a tie for the high game pot with both Matt Trotter and Basher hitting a 258 – a share of the spoils. High series went double senior bowler of the year Alan Keddie with a 923 series.
Overall
I think its going to be a close season. Currently Lee Miller is top with Alan Keddie 19 points behind and in third is Matt Trotter, but Trotter has only bowled 3 of the 5 weeks.

Week 4 … FUNKY PATTERN WEEK. The pattern chosen was ROUTE 66 ! – route 66 is a LONG road… and this pattern was long. 45ft with a tightish ratio.
Sukky dropped in, it was the return of Bradders. Richard Da Costa dropped in as his usual league has stopped for the summer. Aiden Wright came down from Leicester to play on the funky pattern and we had a new bowler Joshua Caitlin
Championship
A 240 game from Jamie Hayes secured him another pot. And there were only two bowlers breaking 700 – Jamie with a 726 and winning the pot with 737 was Gary Waghorn – who will no doubt be more surprised than anyone by reading this.
Overall
League starting to take shape. Jamie Still holding a commanding lead over Rob Yandell in 2nd and Richard Parker in 3rd
Premiership
Two standout performances – Matt Trotter shot a final game of 299 for a 956 set. But that was only good enough for the high game pot. The high series pot went to Miller the pin Killer who shot games of 233,243,257,278 for a 1011 series. Good Shooting – in context the third highest series was Sukky Gill with a 810.
Overall
Miller is top with bad weeks for Alan Keddie and Jackie Wyatt who are in the chasing pack.

Week 3 – And with Basher away living the dream in a caravan down at peppa pig world the league was being run by Jackie
Two new starters this week – welcome to Stuart Caitlin and talented youngster Ava Richardson. Also dropping in for a rare appearance was Sal Spence and CJ
Championship
Someone has dug up Roger again and he came and had a bowl and he put together a decent set with a 757 which won him the series pot. High Game pot went to Jamie Hayes with a 228 – but honourable mentions to Ava who had a 210 and Terry Ng who shot a 213
Overall
Jamie Hayes leads the league by 22 points from Rob Yandell who has been playing well recently. In third at the moment is Ray Lay
Premiership
Dominated this week by Miller the Pin Killer – Lee opened up with a 279 and finished with a 986 series and took the clean sweep of pots and notched a massive 58points
Overall
Alan Keddie is in the lead with a 14 points lead over Lee. In third is Jackie
Next week is going to be a funky Pattern week – I’ll let you all know what the pattern is when I get back from holiday
King of the hill on 18th August is now full but there are several names on the waiting list – if I can get to 10 names on the list I’ll change it up to trios pace

Back again after a week off….
First of all… some people reported differing lane patterns on pairs of lanes… especially 7&8 and 9&10… After bowling, Andy walked the lanes had a look and concurred that one lane seemed have longer oil then the other.. I noticed it on 3 and 4 – but perhaps not to the same extent as some of the other pairs in the house… I had 5 opens all night – all BIG splits on lane 3… make’s me think 3&4 weren’t a pair, or that perhaps I’m just sh8t …
So anyway… Andy is going to get the techs to look at the machine.
Championship
Good Set by Rob Yandel with a 783 – but was beaten to the pot by Jamie Hayes who shot a 792. High game was interesting Ray Lay had a 214… but needing a strike with her final ball Angela Li went balls deep into the pocket carried all ten for a 215 and took the high game pot.
Overall
League only in it’s 2nd week – But Jamie is leading and averaging 200. 2nd is Angela and in 3rd at the moment is Harrison Kroplethingy
Premiership
Sexy Jackie had a great night on the lanes shooting a 901 – but Alan Keddie clean swept the pots with a 265 high game and 964 series
Overall
Keddie has scored BIG in the first two weeks, a 52 point first week and this week he notched up 57pts and he’s got a commanding lead in the league. Sexy Jackie is currently in 2nd and Lee Miller who had a low scoring 2nd week is currently in 3rd.
Next week i’m away at Peppa bleeding Pig World – but Sexy Jackie is at wheel !!
So here we are again – a new season. Season 17 ! – which means I’ve been doing this for 170 weeks ! – that’s a long time… I’m getting a feeling I need a break.
We welcomed a brand new bowler – moved here from Bristol – Hayden Ching. I hope one day he wins a pot so I can do this gag… “Ker-ching hayden wins the pot money”
Championship
SO he’s back in the Championship after a poor season in the prem… and guess what he’s back winning a pot. Jamie Hayes won the high series pot with an 814 series, helped by a 253 last game. By new rules mean the same bowler can’t win both pots in the championship. So winning high game was Angela Li with a 237. Special mention to Rob Durrant who scored his high game of 210 !
Overall
Obviously very early stages – Jamie top, with Richard Parker in 2nd and Gary Waghorn in 3rd
Premiership
Lee Miller had a very average night by his standards, Alan Keddie could have scored more but a rather rude 162 reared its head. So winning both pots was Darren Fox. Darren shot a 258 and 880 series.
Overall
Alan scored 52 points with a 872, Miller was 2nd on the night and in third was double pot winner Darren Fox.

The final week of season 16 – we had a bowler returning to bowl C Y Yang.
Before we get into the report – Every season we seem to break some sort of record. This season we had 63 different bowlers dropping in and having a go. We paid out £574 in POT money and £1063 in prize money – so a total £1637 ! – which isn’t bad for a 10 week season… most traditional leagues run for 40weeks – so if that was the case for this league we would have paid out £6,500 – for a singles league ! which I think you will agree means this league has a great prize fund.
Right lets get into this….
Championship
The night was dominated by the two bowlers who have owned this division this year – Matt Nash won the high series with a 908, and Aaron Cheung shot a 906 – but he won the high game pot with a 267. Special mention to Rob Durrant who totally smashed it shooting a personal best high series of 684 – which done Rob
Overall
So Matt Nash is the league champion on 289pts with Aaron Cheung in 2nd on 260pts and Pete Fyles in 3rd on 250pts – congratulations to Matt. All three of these bowlers are going up to the Premiership. Also joining them in the prem for season 17 is youngster Alfie Humphrey who bowled 4 weeks but averaged 196.
Lets see how these guys get on in the brutal Premiership division where they’ll need to bring their A game every week.
Premiership
This is what the premiership is all about .. a league average of 219… this is the sort of level the newly promoted bowlers have got to get to, EVERY WEEK.. just to be average ! And its why if your any sort of bowler you would want to be involved in this league mixing it up with the best bowlers.
High series went to Lee Miller with a 1027 series. The high game winner came from no where … Spencer Edwards shot a 280 final game… this game contained a string of 13 strikes… as he bowled on the wrong lane TWICE ! both times striking for it only not to count.
Overall
Bowling only the minimum 6 weeks Lee Miller claimed the title – though it’s been noted he dodges the funky pattern weeks, where we bowl on tough lane conditions. 2nd was Matt Trotter and in 3rd was Alan Keddie.
Next week we go straight into season 17 – no mucking about with 4 weeks break and an AGM… this is a dictatorship ! and I’m the dic !
This Sunday 7th July we got a king of the hill going on – we currently have 8 spaces still, but because we have sponsors I’m still offering the usual sort of prize fund… top 3 scratch and handicap will cash plush you got a chance to win money in the fun pots we run whilst Alison messes up the scores on the laptop.
Entry form is here
https://form.jotform.com/231242549866362
Week 9 of season 16 – 1 week left of this season. Myself and Andy spoke to the tech last night about the approaches. We all saw he was cleaning them before the league – but whatever they do in that clean isn’t really working. Whether it’s doing it too soon before the league starts, or not having the right mix of chemicals in the cleaners, or using the buffer – we don’t know. But whatever it is, it just doesn’t seem to be working. So I apologise to those that picked up injuries and those whose bowling was affected.
You can use easy slide on your shoes… we’re not a sanctioned league. And I’d rather people use it then get injured by sticking at the foul line.
Championship
He may have turned up late, he may well have a mental surname but Harrison Kropelnicki put together a great 4 game block shooting a 857 to win the pot… he throws it decent when he two hands it… I don’t know why he is wasting his time trying to bowl one handed all the time… forget about it ! – 1 handed is for old fossils like me ! – actually I can’t bowl 1 handed either. High game went to championship sandbagger Matt Nash who shot a 245, and he gave us this bombshell yesterday “my brother can bowl, and he’s better than me” – literally zero % of surprise in that sentence.. there are people who have never set foot outside their Peruvian jungle village that are better at bowling than you Matt – this might be one of the reasons Matt thinks no one should ever talk to me !
Overall
Matt has the title sewn up and promotion back to the premiership assured. I had to explain how the league works to Aaron for what felt like the 169th time… but he is 2nd and can be caught by Peter fyles who is currently in 3rd depending on results in the last week. All the top 3 look like they are getting promoted. .
Premiership
A night of zero surprises, there are things that are guaranteed in life, death, taxes, Lee Miller averaging 230 on the house shot and Jamie Hayes buying a new bowling ball. Miller banged in a 955 for another pot win, but Alan Keddie had a 265 in game 3 to win the high game pot – the only Scotland win all month – that reminds me what do you call a Scotsman in the knockout stages on major football tournament ? – a REFEREE !!! – boom boom, I’m here all week.
Overall
Matter trotter currently leads. Keddie in 2nd has zero chance of catching him… BUT Lee Miller in 3rd does ! because Lee has only played 5 weeks, so any points he scores next week are all bonus points, and Matt has to score over 39pts to boost his total. The difference between the two is 34pts – and realistically you got to think that Lee (IF he turns up) is going to score more then 34 – its just whether Matt can significantly score more then 39. – understand all that ? – I don’t think even I do… and I wrote it.
Don’t forget to enter the next king of the hill event on July 7th – entry form is here – https://form.jotform.com/231242549866362
Week 8 of season 16 – new bowler, welcome Dior Chew.
Championship
Back on the house pattern and there were some great scores. 3 bowlers all breaking the 800 mark. Aaron Cheung with a 803, Peter Fyles with a 816, but top of the shop and winning a pot was Richard Parker who has new arsenal of bowling stones drilled up and they helped him hit a 821. The high game pot went to Peter who rolled a 237 in game 4
Overall
Despite having the week off Matt Nash still leads with a 9pt lead over Anna Yang who is in 2nd. Aaron Cheung is in 3rd – but Aaron and Matt both still have week to make it up to the 6 weeks required.
As we come into the final couple of weeks into the season.. there are quite a few bowlers above the 184 championship threshold and will be promoted next season.
Premiership
Funny old night for big mac – who won the high game pot with a 255 in game 3 – it was a game that almost beat both his first two games added up together ! – High series pot went to Matt Trotter with a 912
Overall
The only person who can realistically stop Matt Trotter from winning the title is Lee Miller – but Miller has to bowl the final two weeks of the season and score heavily !
As it stands, Matt is 1st 20pts ahead of Alan Keddie in 2nd and Big mac is hanging on to 3rd.
The 3rd King of the Hillz is on July 7th – entry form is here https://form.jotform.com/231242549866362
Make sure you enter this one… its going to be 300s all round ! literally a wall !
Week 7 and we had a funky pattern week – it was sunset strip, which Laura Fawcett took literally… as the sun set at 8.30 she was down to her apple collector knickers and her saggy grey bra, before security intervened.
We welcomed back Angela Li who has been on a whirlwind of parties and wild orgies (probably)
Also noted that Lee Miller dodged another funky pattern week… he needs to show he isn’t just a house shot bully, and he has some minerals.
Championship
I think this might actually be her first pot win… Lisa Cook shot a 214 in game 1 to take a £20 pot ! well done lisa.
Rob Durrant on 15&16 broke the world record for gutter balls… and also for spares after a gutter. Aaron Cheung didn’t think his 705 series would be enough for a pot, but he was wrong is was ! the only other person in the championship breaking 700 was the now fully clothed Laura Fawcett – she wasn’t impressed that Aaron had denied her a pot and tried to take it in good grace, by threating to stab Aaron in the face with a broken beer bottle.
Overall
Matt Nash has now taken over up at the top, as Anna Yang slid down to 2nd. Alfie Humphrey another funky pattern week dodger stays in 3rd
Premiership
High Game, like the championship also came in game 1. Tom Langley hitting a 253 game. There were only 3 bowlers breaking 800 – Basher with a 807, Matt Trotter with a 853 and cleaning up both pots was Tom Langley with a 917
Overall
Trotter has now romped past Alan Keddie and has a 15 point lead. In third is Big Mac.

Week 6 – returning bowlers… first trip out this season for Jo Green and Sexy Jackie. And We welcomed back Ross Holkham, whose been out injured with a bad back.
Championship
Matt “bandito” Nash started off with a 234. Peter Fyles had a 225 – but the high game pot went to Roger Hurst with a 235 in game 4. High Series went to Nash – again, with a 807 series. The Kilroy silk of bowling Rob Yandell had a 759 and Peter Fyles a 779
Overall
Anna Yang is still in the lead; however 2nd and 3rd have only played 4 weeks so in the coming weeks there will be changes up at the top. 2nd at the moment is Matt Nash, averaging 207 ! promotion a cast iron certainty. In 3rd is Alfie Humphrey averaging 196 – hoping Alfie can maintain that sort of average and get himself bowling with the bigger boys.
Premiership
No 900+ series on the night, which is unusual. Alan Keddie threw a 259 in game 2, and Matt Trotter had a 257 in game 3. But winning the high game pot was Big Mac with a 266. High series winner was Lee Miller with an 888.
Overall
Keddie leads at the moment 33pts ahead of Matt Trotter. But Matt has a week to catch up yet. Big Mac in 3rd with Miller 4th who’s only bowled 4 weeks so far.
Next Week is going to be a funky pattern week as we prepare for the King of the Hill on the 16th of June… which I have 1 space still available
Entry form is here https://form.jotform.com/231242549866362 – its going to be a TOUGH one.

Week 5 – it was bank holiday monday, which means a LOAD of people turned up. A record-breaking attendance. Aiden HIV Wright dropped in from Leicester, a coach load from Kettering/Northampton – and even the legend himself ICE MAN, the general DUKE turned up. Admittedly he didn’t bowl ! but he surveyed the competition, and he liked what he saw… Also CJ dropping in for a bank holiday chuck and Richard DaCosta, and Steve Allardyce getting some practice in before the senior county qualifiers.
Championship
Dominated by two bowlers who were relegated last season, but with the pressure of being in amongst the elite of the premiership off their shoulders they seem to be thriving once again.
Matt Nash won the high series pot with a 848, and Aaron won the high game pot with a 243. Worthy mention to Harrison Kropelnicki who recently lost half of his big toe ! I think it was the top half, not the bottom half, anyway Harrison rolled a 810 series.
Overall
Anna Yang still leads, with Matty Nash surging into 2nd and the Funky David Fung in 3rd.
Premiership
Aiden Wright still gormless as ever and still flinging that ropey old blue hammer vibe down there opened with a 279, Ryan Skippins finishing off his set with a 276 – but the high game pot went to Lee Miller the pin Killer who shot another 300 game !. High series – Aiden (HIV) shot a 948, Matt Trotter a 920 but it was Miller taking a clean sweep of the pots and winning £42 with a 1031 series.
Overall
Alan Keddie still leads, with Matt Trotter into 2nd and Big Mac Macpherson falls into turd… sorry third.

Week 4 – And that means FUNKY PATTERN week !! the pattern chosen was the Dunstable Version of the 2024 Senior Nationals Team pattern.
No Newbies, but a few returners – Sal Spence, Sukky Gill, Gary Waghorn, Matt Nash and Sexy J .. all welcome
Championship
Playing his first week since his relegation to the Championship after a season of being useless in the prem was Matt Nash who went and banged in a 906 with a 742 over the last 3 ! obviously that won the high series pot ! – please note he was bowling on lanes 1 & 2, nothing wrong with that pair !! New rules meant he couldn’t also win the high game pot, so that went to the next bowler who shot the highest game and that was Roger the death dodger Hurst, who’s back again, this time with new valves and in his pigs heart. Roger shot a 214 for a pot win on this return
Overall
Anna Yang our clog wearing windmill loving Dutch National now leads the league on 139 tied with England youth bowler Alfie with David Fung Guy currently in a shady 3rd place.
Premiership
4 bowlers all shooting over 900 – Matt Trotter 907, Basher with a 920, and Lobbers (on lanes 1 & 2) a 921 but winning high series pot with a 962 was Alan Keddie. High Game went to Basher who rolled a 277 with his Gem fresh off the drill – it looks lovely going down the lane. Spherical Sexiness !
Overall
Alan Keddie out in the lead and going for a three-peat of league wins. Big Mac is in 2nd and in 3rd Matt Trotter – the average of the top 6 is 219 ! that’s the level you need ! and the average for the top 8 is 215 – and that’s with Spencer dragging us down.
Right June 12th is the 2nd King of the Hillz event at Dunstable – I’m making this is a tough one ! – if you want to enter then click here https://eu.jotform.com/build/231242549866362
And YES – its bank holiday next Monday but THE LEAGUE IS ON !!! THE LEAGUE IS ON !!!
Week 3 … and we welcomed a new comer Chris Egginton who had a bowl whilst waiting for Andy to drill up a ball for him.
Championship
Aaron Chueng was useless all night – except for game 3 ! where something clicked and he shot a 245 to take the high game pot. Aaron also unveiled his new 10 pin spare technique – And missed every single one of them !
High Series Alfie shot a 797 with a rogue 149 game in the middle, but high series pot winner was Peter Fyles with a 807.
Overall
Aflie is top of the league with a 38point lead over Anna Yang who is in 2nd. Can Alfie stay the distance and keep that average up and get into the premierships with the bigger boys ?
Premiership
Some high scores down on 7 and 8 – Matt Trotter shooting a 948, but winning the high series pot was his mate Darren Fox with a 966. Both bowlers scoring 52 points
High Game went to Big Mac who shot the front 9 then a 7count ending up with a 275 game.
Overall
Jordan the hit man Hart and Alan Keddie are tied at the top on 113pts. In 2nd Big Mac on 111pts
Next Week is week 4 a funky pattern week, the plan at the moment is to speak to the Pro Andy Penny and see if he’s planning on loading any of the Senior National Patterns into the machine. And then we will probably play on one of them.

Week 2 – and it’s a Bank Holiday always a busy night. A coach load of bowlers turned up from the Kettering and Peterborough, so we welcome new comers Josh and James Ransome… and Philip Coudray, not be confused with corduroy ! that reminds I invented a pillow made of corduroy, you must heard about it, it made loads of “headlines” – come on that’s a good one !
Championship
Youngster Alfie Humphrey has started the season well, winning a pot in Week 1. A 240 in game 4 for Alfie won him another pot and he shot a nice 856 series to take 52 pts. But he didn’t win the high series pot as that went to Aaron Cheung who was put together a nice 868 series.
Overall
Obviously very early days in the season, but Alfie leads averaging 200. David Fung-Guy is in 2nd and there’s not “MUCH-ROOM” to third who is Anna Yang
Premiership
A whooping 19 bowlers, making points very hard to come by. Top bowler was the Hit Man Jordan Hart with a 921 series. And high game was a bizarre 270 by KC Kev Creamer who went double miss spare off the sheet ! – he’s never had a 300 before, but does this kinda count as a 300 ? – I would claim it !!
Overall
Well where does that leave us. KC is top of the league averaging 230, with Jordan and Alan Keddie in joint 2nd
Another Week of house pattern – then we will have a funky pattern week !
Watch the action back here
Here we go again – a NEW season, season 16 of the drop in singles league !
We didn’t have any new bowlers as such, but we had 5 returning bowlers who haven’t dropped in for a long time. Corinne Couch, who stopped bowling because her eyes hurt and her husband had to go and guard a rock in the sea, Jordan Hit man Hart and Lisa Cook came and had a bowl, and also returning was big bad Kev the rev Creamer and his son Harry.
Championship
Alfie Humphrey took the high game with a 217 game, and Peter Fyles won the high series with a 767. Not much else to report really ! Anna Yang had a decent 214 game,
Premiership
First off Kev Creamer want to bowl in the championship, he said he aint bowled for 18months… then shot games of 239,257,273,222 for a 991 ! so I got the extra £2 off him and stuck in the Premiership – 991 ! in the championship would’ve been redic. So Kev won the high series pot, with Lee Miller shooting a 977. High game with a 279 went to big Mac Macpherson. It baffles me this. How does Hayden Hewitt smash the championship, gets promoted then shots a 676 ! – he didn’t shoot anywhere as low as that in the whole of last season.

The final week of season 15.
We are lucky in this league to have 4 bowlers representing their countries in this weeks Senior Triple Crown. So, I thought it might be a good send off to lay the tournament pattern down. Give them some competitive practice and to give us some context on the sort of conditions they would be playing on.
We had a new bowler this week – Wayne Wallacy, welcome Wayne. Also, it was good to see Laura Fawcett back having a bowl – I think !
Championship
A great night for our Dutch International bowler Anna Yang who won both pots ! – Finishing off her high series of 803 with a 223 game. Anna really was the standout performance in a rather bland final week in the Championship division.
Overall
Hayden Hewitt had the title wrapped up for several weeks really. And finished on 261 points, way ahead of Gary Waghorn in 2nd on 228pts and that great final week by Anna saw her take third, 1 point behind Gary on 227pts.
Hayden gets promoted to the premiership and further down so does sexy Jackie as she averaged over the 185 thresholds.
Premiership
It was tough night on the those on the high number lanes… as Lee Miller was proper pumping out some of the worse farts I’ve ever had the misfortune to smell… my good they were rancid.
He’s rotten bumhole didn’t stop him from winning the high game pot with a 269, but down on the “cheater” pair 3&4, the best pair in the house Alan Keddie went and shot a 1001 series for the high set pot.
Overall
Miller really had the title sewn up… but did he ????? that 1001 set from Keddie gave him 52 points and Miller scored 39points – but that swing saw Keddie climb from 3rd to 1st and win back to back titles by two points – that is his 6th premiership title.
I think that was the best season we’ve had – we had 55 different bowlers drop in. I’ve paid out £1,584.40 in prize money this season. Awesome stuff.. there were times this season when I thought I could get to the ultimate goal and have enough bowlers for 3 divisions and for the league to run over two nights.
Now the mixed trios tournament is out the way – it’s time to concentrate on the Summer King of the Hills. The first tournament is coming up 12th May – get your entries in for this, be great to get this tournament running at trios pace – entry form is here https://form.jotform.com/231242549866362

So best of luck to our senior triple crown bowlers, Paul Loberman, Matt Trotter, Sukky Gill and Alan Keddie.
New season starts next week – remember prices have gone up £19 for the championship £21 for the Premiership !
Week 9 of season 15 and it was funky pattern week – the pattern was Gateway arch. We welcomed a new bowler this week – non other then Ray Lay’s SON !! Philip Lay…
Championship
Oh my gosh, what a night Maurice Lipyeart had… rolling a 766 series and shooting a 244 game, which won him the high game pot ! Well done Maurice. Anna Yang put the misery of the mercury pattern at stroud behind her and rolled a nice a 765 series. But winning the high series pot was Hayden Hewitt with a 772.
Overall
Hayden has it sewn up going into the final week, and he will be winning the championship title and then back in the prem next season ! where we all hopes he stays – he’s got to be looking to establish himself in the prem and kicking on, and not yo-yoing between the two divisions.
Premiership
Got to get right to it – High game ! Lee Miller opened up with a 265, then in game 2 Basher shot a 265 for a tied pot. It was particularly annoying as Basher dicked about on his last shot rolling a 6 count ! which cost him a whole £6 – that has hurt him !, best way of hurting basher is financially ! High series should have really been won by alan Keddie who had two single pin open frames in his final game and rolled a 899, Basher shot a 906, but winning the pot was Lee Miller with a 912.
Overall
Miller has now played 6 weeks and he surged to the top of league on 294pts. In 2nd is a tie on 279 points between Matt Trotter and Keddie.

Championship
Some good games from the girls, Angela Li with a 227, and Jo Green 222, but winning the high game pot with a 246 was double H, Hayden Hewitt. And Hayden clean swept both pots by shooting the high series with an 805. This won’t happen in the championship next season as you won’t be allowed to win both pots.
Overall
The good week by Hayden which has pushed him to the top league on 234 points, with Gary Waghorn 6 points behind in 2nd and Jo Green is in 3rd. 2 weeks to go until end of the league and it will be interesting to see how it pans out.
Premiership
There was a 278 and a 300 – both from the same person ! Paul the Power Loberman !! Paul put together a great block of 1030 – and he still didn’t end up as the top point winner. Paul notched up 53pts, but Lee Miller with his 983 series won 55 points. Paul naturally won the high game and high series pot.
Overall
Matt Trotter still top, with Alan Keddie in 2nd. Lobbers moved up in 3rd – but in 4th with a week to catch up is Miller the pin Killer. He only needs a 29point scoring week to catch Matt up.
Next week is the delayed funky pattern week. Pattern to be announced once I’ve spoken to Andy P – probably will be the pattern that will be laid for the mixed trios tournament (entry below)
Next weekend is the Bedfordshire mixed trios – entry form is here – https://events.btba.org.uk/tournament-details?recordId=rec4ZaLDEzVBlrV3L

Week 7 of season – Bank Holiday Monday. They called me crazy running a league on a bank holiday, they said no one would turn up – well what they say is RUBBISH ! – a bumper attendance this week – we welcomed the Family Skippins – Neil, Mark, Ryan. Sue and Brain Brett. Elvis is back in the building, and he was joined by Wai Yau, William Kwok, Alan Chan. And Alfie’s little brother Codi also came and had a bowl, our youngest member at just 8 years of age… just the 79 years younger than our oldest member Gerry Wrathall. Overall it was great night of bowling – great atmosphere and we had a 300 !
Championship
With some many bowlers points had to be earned. William Kwok, Alan Chan, and Elvis Law all shot over 800 – and come next season all will probably be re-rated into the premiership. But the winner of both the high game and high series pots was one of our regulars – Gary Waghorn, who shot a high game of 247 and series of 849.
Overall
Gary cemented his place at the top on 228pts and his average is now dangerously close to getting him promoted to the prem for the first time. In 2nd is Hayden Hewitt, double H, who could yo yo back into the prem next season as he’s currently averaging 189. And after missing a week Jo Green slips down to 3rd.
Premiership
What a night for Jamie Hayes… unsurprisingly he got a new ball drilled up, he’s 673rd “new ball” this year. Then in its 2nd ever game being rolled it went and gave Jamie his first 300 ! which naturally took the high game pot ! – well done Jamie ! Basher was also on for a 300 until Jamie threatened to break both his legs… and he left a 7pin for a 278 game. High series went to Miller the pin Killer – I swear he’s ball only has to brush against the 1 pin for it to scatter the pins everywhere.
Overall
Matt Trotter is way out in the front at the moment on 277pts with Alan Keddie in 2nd 252pts and Big Mac in third on 242pts – but watch out down below ! there lurks Miller – he has only played 4 weeks so far and with 3 weeks remaining it means he needs two decent scoring weeks to catch up to Trotter.

Week 5 – and it was the delayed funky pattern week ! And we went for the Mercury Pattern, which was the mystery pattern we laid at the recent Herts, Beds and Bucks county trials.
A good turnout as usual for the funky pattern week as bowlers want to test themselves on something other then the house shot. It was good to Sukky face his “mercury” demons after a less than impressive showing in the county trials. And talking of demons it was also good to see Sal Spence coming to have a bowl.
Championship
Have any of you ever noticed that 85 year old Gerry Wrathall is always outside the bowl on this phone ? – I think he’s hitting up a dealer to get some gear in before he bowls… and whatever he’s on, I want some ! – Gerry hit a 220 to win the high game pot ! – that’s 317 game with his old age bonus. High series pot went to David Fung with a 755. Honourable mention to Sexy Jackie Wyatt who had a 731 with a 135 game in the middle.
Overall
Top 3 remain the same – Gary Waghorn 1st, Jo Green 2nd and Anglea Li in 3rd…. it after week 6 that the league really starts to take shape.
Premiership
He had a shocker in the county trials, but on a different day and in a different head space Lee Miller was back being the pin Killer winning both the high game and high series pots with a 279 and 961 series. Honourable mentions to Matt Trotter who shot a 918, and what about Sukky Gill – Well he showed his performance in the county trials was just a blip, a bad day – and we all have them right ? Sukky shot an 837 series.
Overall
Trotter scored a massive 54points and is firmly in the lead, with Alan Keddie who had a dropper in 2nd and Lobbers in 3rd. Trotters main challenge will come from Lee Miller as long lee gets his 6 weeks in.

I was hoping for a better turnout, with the county trials coming up on Wednesday. I thought people would want to get some practice in, but perhaps they are saving themselves for the roll offs and the tri county championship
Championship
This girl just keeps winning pots ! – she also said she doesn’t mind being on the live stream as she makes a lot of video’s at home for her own special channel “gorgeous greenie” or “greenie and the lamp – just give her a rub and your wish is her command” – er anyway, Jo Green won the high game pot with a 245. Winning the high series pot was Hayden Hewitt who put together a consistent set of games for an 823 series.
Overall
Gary Waghorn takes over at the top but is just 1 point above Jo, whilst in third is Angela Li 7 points off the lead.
Premiership
Matt Trotter wanted to know what it felt like for the rest of us normal bowlers so he threw a 131 in game 3… he didn’t like it, so he followed it up with a 257. But clean sweeping the pots with a brilliant performance was Alan Keddie who shot a final game of 279 and 980 series. Alan was the only bowler breaking 900
Overall
A bad night for Trotter, allowed Alan Keddie to really close the gap. Trotter still leads on 180 with Alan in 2nd on 169 and in Darren fox in 3rd.
Next week is 100% funky pattern week. And we will be playing the County trials mystery pattern ! which I shall announce after the trials has finished.

Week 3 – the build up for the Herts, Beds and Bucks county trials continues as we had a bumper turnout. Dropping in for a rare visit was Mark mad eye Secker Bag, and we had a new bowler David Fung.
Championship
One of them nights when the top point scorer doesn’t win a pot. Top point scorer was newbie David Fung who put together a consistent set and scored 40points. Gary Waghorn shot a 792, but winning the high series pot with an 805 bowling down on 1 & 2 was Sexy Jackie Wyatt. High game pot went to Roger “I’ve got gout” Hurst who opened up with a 247
A nice pot to win as both pots were worth £19
Congratulations to Alfie who we worked out is 4 times younger then Gerry Wrathall.
Overall
Despite having a bad week Jo Green remains at the top, with Gary Waghorn in 2nd and Angela Li in 3rd
Premiership
A strong night in the premiership with a league average of 207 with 3 bowlers all shotting over 900. Lobbers with a 936, Alan Keddie a 929 but winning the high series pot with a 963 was Matt Trotter. High game pot went to Alan Keddie with a 276, with a dishonourable mention to big Mac who came close with a 264
Overall
Matt Trotters good start to the season continues and he leads with a 231 average. Alan Keddie is 2nd and Mark Richardson is in 3rd

Week 2 of Season 15 – the day after squad 1 of the county trials that a lot of the regulars bowled in, so the numbers were down a little bit. Tom Langley dropped in for a rare appearance.
Championship
Jo Green has started the season on fire… winning another pot with a 229 game in game 2. Then someone threw a bucket of water over her in the last game, as she had a 139 last game for a 763 set. That meant Angela Li stole the pot by 3 pins with a 766 – the first pot she’s won. Well done Angela
Overall
At this early stage in the season Jo Green is at the top after two good weeks, with Angela in 2nd and young Alfred Humphries in 3rd.
Premiership
Aaron Cheung opened up with a 257, Tom Langley shot a 256 in game 2 – but winning the high game pot was Basher ! with a beautifully crafted 258 game. High series pot was won by Tom with a 907.
Overall

So here we are again – week 1 of a new season, season 15. We welcomed back Kane Bennett who hasn’t dropped in for a while.
Championship
It was close night for the pots – Jo Green and Keith Hou both tied the pot with a 215, with Both Alfie Humphrey and Sexy Jackie just missing out with a 213 and Ben Holkham shooting a 214. The high series pot was again won by Jo Green with a 773, just beating Sexy Jackie by a pin with her 772. Other Honourable mentions – Ben Holkham with a 760 and Alfie with a 753
Premiership
Not massive games, but a lot of consistent high games from Miller and Matt Trotter. Lee shooting a high game of 247 for a 966. But starting the season with a clean sweep of pots was the father of TV quiz sensation Lee Trotter, Matt. Matt shot high game of 248 on his way to a 970 block. He was very disappointed no one asked him for a selfie or an autograph, he even bought a pack of sharpie pens with him… He might not be bowling much this season as he’s expecting a call for Celebrity Love Island…
