UK Legends – Jim “The Master” Brewer

When you look back into the history of UK bowling, there are a few names that start to jump out at you from the very early days. One name is Jim Brewer. Players of today know that name from the tournament at Poole that carries his name, but how much do people really know about him? Search the web and the only thing to come up besides a few results from and is this video by Robert Mudge.

It actually seemed a little sad to find that someone who has his own memorial event has very little history to be found so that now changes with this article recovered from August 1967.

The UK Tenpin Hall of Fame are currently collating results for the Jim Brewer event and many others. You can view them here

  1. I totally agree that it is so sad that we have little or no film or video record not only of our top bowlers from way back, but even our top bowlers of today.
So how do we do something about it?
Could a group be created on facebook where you can post video of yourself,
your team mates or your bowling heroes.
We can bowl with the same people for many years but one day they might not be there.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a little memory of you and them doing what you love BOWLING !!!!!!!
    Suggestions please.
